And an update on what Im doing to get clarity from the Government - TopicsExpress

And an update on what Im doing to get clarity from the Government on their position RE Kellingley following Vince Cables comments last week: The Government must not play games on this, it’s too serious for our local jobs and national energy policy. One minute the Energy Minister says they will work with us on a long term plan for the pits, the next minute the Business Secretary seems to be ruling out any help at all. The clock is ticking now. The longer we go on without new development restarting at Kellingley, the more it will cost to keep the pits open and the harder it will be. The Energy Minister agreed to our calls to look at all options including EU state aid to keep the pits open. Im calling on him to stand by that and to make sure the Department works with UK Coal and the unions to keep our pits open beyond 2015. Ive written to Secretary of State Vince Cable and Energy Minister Matthew Hancock to insist that they clearly set out the Governments position once and for all. Will they help us try and save Kellingley Colliery or not? There is no time left for delays. ENDS
