And now an encouraging word from Pastor Bill! Wednesday’s Big Churchy Word of the Week: Justification: jus•ti•fi•ca•tionˌ jəstəfəˈkāSH(ə)n/ the action of showing something to be right or reasonable; the action of declaring or making righteous in the sight of God When I was a about around 14 or 15 years old, my sisters and I received these really cool very obnoxious toys called Clackers. They were two slightly larger than golf ball balls made of a super hard nearly indestructible substance attached together by about 24 inches of nylon rope with a small plastic handle exactly in the middle of the rope. You placed the handle between your thumb and fore finger and, like directing an orchestra, you moved your wrist up and down as fast as you could to get the two balls to hit at the top of the stroke and again at the bottom of the stroke. The effect if done correctly is not unlike the greatest grandfather clock ticking twice as fast as normal in front of the world’s largest microphone and speaker system! The trick was to see how long you could keep those things “clacking”. Who ever thought that kids should play with these things didnt quite realize just how lethal they were. Diana, my little sister of only two or three years old, decided to try her hand at using the clackers. Unfortunately she started swinging them in front of my mom’s antique lamb that didnt stand a chance against the wrath of the clackers! She was really unset and began to cry. Being the big brother, I told her not to worry about, that I’d fix it and glue it back together and mom would never know. There was really never a chance to put that thing back together, so when mom got home… well you know… As soon as Diana saw mom she broke down crying and said, “…but Billy said he could make it better! He’s gonna make it “Just If I’d” never done it!?” This is like a relationship with Jesus. Once you step into a relationship with Him, He puts all your broken parts back together and makes you just as if you never sinned. Romans 4:25 says, “He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.” Jesus won’t fix your broken lamp but he will fix your broken heart. So today before your enter the broken world remember that Jesus has justified you by your faith in Him!
