And now we are down to four in the Philippine Delegation to the Lima Climate Conference: Commissioner Heherson Alvarez of the Climate Change Commission, Val Roque of the Department of Foreign Affairs, and Aya de Leon and myself from Ateneo de Manila who are technical advisers to the delegation. Definitely, the man of the hour is our eloquent and brilliant diplomat Val - receiving inputs through viber from his boss at DFA Asec. Gary Domingo who is on his way home and from me in a taxi on my way to the conference center, he crafted and delivered with strength and calm determination the Philippine statement on the current draft of the Lima Agreement text. He emphasized the importance of including loss and damage in the Paris Agreement and reiterated our emphasis on the inclusion of human rights in that agreement. The Philippines received strong applause for that statement. Definitely, Val right now is at the top of my favorite Filipino diplomats!
