MORNING REALITY CHECK-Friday, September 5, 2014 PRAYER OF PRAISE: Father, we rise to a new morning, set in place by your divine will. Thank you for the blessings you give us each day. If we open our eyes and jump out of our world, we see your creation...full of beauty and wonder. You have given us the privilege of taking care of it all. The majestic mountains, oceans and streams. The wildlife which we watch and wonder in awe. The patter of little feet scampering across the way. These are just a few of the wonders as we stare out the window to adorn the day. Be with us guide and direct us. In Jesus precious name we pray. Amen. WORDS TO LIVE BY: Matthew 26:69-75 (NIV) Comment: During the end times it is easy to slip into denial that we are witnessing fulfillment of biblical scripture. Others will be complacent and when the rapture comes, look around in amazement wondering what happened? Yet there will be others to try and explain that a UFO rounded folks up and took them to Mars. Is whats happening the Middle East the beginning of the end. Or is it a glimpse of what will come to pass in the future? In the following scripture we see three stages of Peters denial of knowing Jesus prior to his crucifixion. (69) Now Peter was sitting out in the courtyard, and a servant girl came to him, You also were with Jesus of Galilee. she said. (70) But he denied them all. I dont know what youre talking about, He said. (71) Then he went out to the gateway, where another girl saw him and said to the people there, This fellow was with Jesus of Nazareth. (72) He denied it again with an oath: I dont know the man! (73) After a little while, those standing there went up to Peter and said Surely you are one of them, for your accent gives you away. (74) Then he began to call down curses on himself and he swore to them, I dont know the man! Immediately a rooster crowed. (75) Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken: Before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times. And he went outside and wept bitterly. Narrative: There were three stages to Peters denial. First he acted confused and tried to divert attention from himself by changing the subject. Second, using an oath he denied that he knew Jesus. Third, he began to curse and swear. Believers who deny Christ often begin so subtly by pretending not to know him. When opportunities to discuss religious issues come up, they walk away or pretend they dont know the answers. With only a little more pressure, they can be induced to deny flatly their relationship with Christ. If you find yourself subtly diverting conversation so you dont have to talk about Christ, watch out. You may be on the road to disowning him. Comment: Todays verses talked about the denial of Christ. The same symptoms are appearing in a large group of Christians and non-Christians alike as Bible scriptures reveal that a change is at hand. Isis, has been called The devil incarnate. Just how far they go, we will monitor the newscasts and see. However, the United States, blessed by God, is expected to lead the charge alongside Israel and its allies and defeat Satan. It would be great to have a mass conversion of Islam to Christianity. But the wholesale murders of Iraqi and other Christians eliminates any hope of conversion, much less peace with their existence. One can only look to the heavens and say, Father, your will be done. HYMN OF THE MORNING- Youll Never Walk Alone - (1964) LET US PRAY: Lord, we humbly come before you seeking your continued blessing on our great nation. May we as citizens rally around your word as we would seal the Constitution of America, to protect it and our nation from those who intend to afflict harm upon us. We know, father, your justice stands silent for so long as man has continually sinned, mocked and degraded you. We pray for your protection of our armed service men and women and your children everywhere. In Jesus precious name we pray. Amen.
