Animal rescue is not an easy business. I feel like Im constantly checking my bank account and driving down allies. There is never a break and never any down time. Because once youve found a home for one, youre welcoming another in. Rescuing itself isnt easy. Ive been bitten. Ive jumped into traffic. Ive ran into jungles. Ive spent hours coaxing dogs and cats that learned not to trust humans. It is physically, emotionally, and financially draining. But it is the easiest job Ive had. Because I get to watch these animals transform into souls they probably never thought they could be. I get to be the reason why an animal can see again, can walk again, can love again. And when I feel at my wits end, they are there to lift me right back up to where I belong. I may not win military awards or get recognition for it because to most, its really nothing, but animal rescue is the work that Im most proud of. The work that I want to talk about and live and be. Ahhh, to win the heart of an animal. :)
