Anon: Hi there!! Happy new year to start with! My boy is 4 months old now and he started a whining phase. I am FOR picking him up whenever he cries, and taking care of him whenever he needs it. I have a feeling you are too! So now that he started whining, i mean he does it 3/4 of the day. I f I take him for a walk, or play and put ALL my attention in, its fine, he will stop, but start 5 min later if whatever I am doing wont interest him. We feel that we cant keep up with him, and have looked at a different method. Positive education or something like that. The idea is to let your child cry or whine, and to only pick him up once he stops (for at least 30 sec), and also play with him intensely when he is happy and quiet. You basically program him to link happy-quite with mommy daddy and whiny crying with alone. i tried it yesterday and I ended up crying with him. I dont feel I connect with idea, yet I dont know if there is another way to do it. Is it just a phase? I suppose. But to pick him up everytime he whines is quite handicapping in a day which is already quite full. What do you think? Any clues? Thank you!
