Anon asks I have a 3.5 year old stepdaughter who stays with my husband and I every second weekend. Lately she has been saying she is scared at bedtime, not being able to sleep despite being tired. She is sleeping in her own room right next door to ours, with a teddy shes had since she was a baby. Weve tried door open, nightlight, bedtime routine with story and a face /hands and feet massage with a flannel (which she always asks me to do, not daddy), laying with her..... Sometimes she will scream out for daddy (and never me) multiple times while trying to fall asleep. Just unsure whether this is a phase, or normal for this age, or if the split homes has anything to do with it. She is in bed by 8-8:30 and is awake at 6:30-7. As mentioned, this has only started last few months. I need some advice on what to do. Hubby and I have no other kids. Would love to hear from other step parents. (Not sure if this is the kind of thing I can put on here- sorry if it isnt)
