Another Robo call warning from Kern County about possible flooding in Wofford Heights. Followed by the following TXT message: S: Flash Flood Watch, KRV Burn Scar Areas 12/01/2014 This is an update to a ReadyKern message sent to Wofford Heights residents on Wednesday, November 26th.If you live or work in an area of the Kern River Valley affected by a wildfire burn scar, and especially if you live or work downslope of last summers Way Fire near Wofford Heights in the Kern River Valley, please pay close attention to this message.The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch that will be in effect from Tuesday morning, December 2nd, through Wednesday morning, December 3rd. A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding.Rain is forecast to move into central California on Tuesday. The National Weather Service notes that runoff from heavy rain showers or thunderstorms may cause flash flooding in the burn scar areas near Lake Isabella and the Piute Mountains, including the burn area of last summers Way Fire in the mountains above Wofford Heights. Areas downslope or adjacent to drainages below the burn area may be subject to mud and debris flows.Your Kern County emergency authorities urge residents in the Kern River Valley to be alert, recognizing the potential for mud and debris flows into populated areas, and remain aware of their surroundings. You are urged to closely monitor and anticipate changing conditions in your area and be prepared to move to a place of safety if it becomes necessary.Should signs of mud flows or heavy runoff be observed, residents should move out of the area or to higher ground. Avoid entering the path of the flow as water and mud flows are deceivingly powerful.The National Weather Service suggests that residents monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action if flooding becomes imminent or is reported.
