Another group names the Ojibwa, living in Ontario, like most indigenous peoples, used fur and animal products in their traditional costume. Originally created with available resources, leather leggings, buckskin shirts, leather moccasins, feather headdresses and fur cloaks in colder weather formed the daily wardrobes of Ojibwa ancestors. But today? After the expansion of the fur trade, the Ojibwa tribe turned to other materials so as to not add to the depletion of Mother Nature’s resources. Many modern day tribes wear contemporary dress, saving the fur and leather for traditional, formal occasions.
