Another job offshore last night with myself and my crew departing - TopicsExpress

Another job offshore last night with myself and my crew departing around 20:45 hrs. CG21 returned to harbour approx 03:30 hrs after a interesting trip offshore. The bar was acting up a little with us taking a couple of 2 - 2.5 mtr breakers over the top on our outbound trip. We returned escorting the search fleet back inside the bar post hast around 02:15 hrs after a medical condition for a VMR member appeared to be looming. Weather was intense with rain showing a whiteout on the radar at times and lightning strikes where becoming our friend to assist with illuminating the area (always nice when your in a aluminum boat with nice pointy aerials towards the sky). CG21 took a different outbound route to all the other vessels on the bar and although the seas where short and steep we where the only vessel that did not touch and ground on the sandbars with the seas rolling in. A big run out tide and gusty onshore wind on the bar will always test your reflexes. The missing swimmer was off North Stradbroke Island in the surf near Pt Lookout when the alarm was raised by 1 of the 3 persons involved on-scene, 1 male self recovered whilst the 2nd male managed to get back to shore some distance further up the beach, unfortunately the 3rd young male was recovered in daylight early this morning. Thanks to the crew aboard with me last night and early this morning, job well done again by all. Good to be back safe and well minus a few bruises.
