Another note from her upstairs this morning about, of course, - TopicsExpress

Another note from her upstairs this morning about, of course, amongst other things, the oh-so-urgent roofing repairs! Honestly, I could wallpaper my whole flat with the amount of notes on this matter that I have been bombarded with recently! I am of course wondering (but not too hard and with considerable amusement - having the attention of the uninvited captive audience is so much fun!) why she hasnt taken the very heavy hints that no-comment in this instance should be taken as non-agreement and therefore non- participation - and why she and her Puppet, the owner of the Studio Flat, havent taken those ample opportunities to over-rule me, as they found so easy to do (at least to start with) on the insurance policy renewal - so let them do it again! - but of course I know the answer to that one....Anyway, it isnt happening; I sent her a previous note saying that £500 would be the maximum I would be prepared to contribute to any proven roofing repairs, given that every single one of the roofing repair jobs weve had before has been carried out by cowboys that charge £1,500 to reposition a tile and then of course, a few months later, there is another problem, necessitating attendance of the next lot of cowboys - and that circle of unnecessary roofing works, dodgy contractors and the duff claims made that were too readily agreed by the Brokers (who in turn do not seem exactly bona-fide either) has been going on for probably 10-12 years now - so therefore, there is no reason at all to believe that these works are any more legitimate than all of the others. Even the Brokers have refused a claim on this one - and if they dont think its valid, then theres no reason for me or anyone else to think so either! - I only have her say-so that works need doing, Studio Flat Puppet is rolling in money, so splashing a few Grand is small change for him and hes well wrapped round her little finger anyway, and she has made no efforts (of course) to get a professional assessment carried out to determine what roofing repairs, if any, are needed, and what would be a fair price to charge for those works; or indeed, to get an independent foreman in to oversee and verify the works in progress and make sure they are done properly. If I thought that any of those actions were being arranged, then I might be better persuaded that works need doing and that we are going to be charged fairly for doing them. Otherwise, she can drop as many notes in as she likes, or bash away at my front door, or throw hammers or drop something heavy (here we go again....) on my ceilings (maybe I can counter-claim from them their share of the costs for all of that repair work too, on the her-upstairs say-so basis, then?) it isnt going to make one scrap of difference to my viewpoint on this. Remember the fairy tale about the little boy who cried wolf all the time, then no-one believed him when a genuine problem cropped up?... so take the hints.....
