Another rant...Im so tired -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Hoosac Wind Noise Date: Thu, 20 Mar 2014 13:46:54 -0400 From: Larry Lorusso Reply-To: larry@cytafex Organization: Cytafex Studio To: [email protected], Ben Downing , Cariddi, Gailanne (HOU) , [email protected], Elizabeth Warren , Fisher, Christina W (HOU) , [email protected], [email protected], Larry Lorusso , Howland, David (DEP) , [email protected], Kimmell, Ken (DEP) , Martha Coakley , Martin Suuberg , [email protected], Michael Gorski , [email protected] , [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], Shannan D. This morning I got up not feeling rested because of lack of sleep. I tried covering my head with the covers and pillow with no respite from the noise and the thumping continued for some hours until the noise finally lessened in the wee hours. I should be going out to cut and split wood as the Winter has been long and cold and requires more than usual to keep our Home warm. But Im tired and just dont feel up to it and have a concern of making mistakes working with powered equipment when I havent rested well. At the very least this is noise pollution that weve been subjected to for over a year now, and we have lost more than sleep. Where sleep used to be mostly easy to achieve with few interruptions, now at times can be difficult if not impossible because of noise from the turbines. I have some questions if your not too busy to respond. Mr. Gorski, you informed us there is no evidence the project is out of compliance with state regulation, then why is the noise from Hoosac Wind loud enough in our bedroom to keep us from sleep? We used to sleep well before the noise from the Ridge began in December 2012. Ill risk boring you with bringing up the Hoosac Wind Study, from which you determined compliance and some various issues never reasonably explained to us. Why were some turbines left on during measurements to determine ambient sound levels? Why was equipment placed in the woods or behind trees when open areas nearby were available? Why very few attended samples between the the quiet hours that MassDEP protocol suggests? Why so many blanks and missing data in the study? Why wasnt every effort made to monitor the most impacted properties? Why was Iberdrola allowed to control the sound study, including which company would do the test and Iberdrola employees directing placement of equipment? I do believe my questions are not out of line and hope we deserve specific reasonable answers. We are not the only neighbors who have been impacted and have concerns, nor the only communities that have been complaining.
