Another reasons to visit Singapore soon.. Believe it a not....a Cat Museum... Unbelievable....awesome... SINGAPORE: The Republic welcomed its first cat museum on Friday (Jan 9) with the opening of Lion City Kitty at Purvis Street. The museum is collaborating with the Cat Welfare Society, and it has a space dedicated to rescued or abandoned cats which can be adopted by the public. It is believed to be the first museum in the world that has real cats available for adoption. The museum pays tribute to local cats and felines from around the world, and also showcases a variety of artwork, including figurines and paintings. One if its goals is to change the communitys mindset towards cats and foster stronger interest in local felines. Law and Foreign Affairs Minister K Shanmugam launched the museum on Friday and praised the efforts of the team behind Lion City Kitty. As part of SG50 celebrations, it aims to help 50 cats find a home by National Day. Ms Jessica Seet, founder of Lion City Kitty, elaborated: Since we are celebrating our 50th birthday, we thought since the cats that are here today are part of our history, why not try to get 50 of what we call lion city kitties a home.” Ms Joanne Ng, CEO of the Cat Welfare Society, noted: The cats are allowed more time to settle in an environment, and this will be the environment that they are familiar. And in an environment that they are familiar in, the cats will actually be able to display their true character. Some cats have also been identified for something called cat therapy, which is what the organisation is moving into. That literally means that these cats are sent out to places like autism centres or old folks homes in the hopes of spreading a little bit of cheer into these peoples lives.
