Another week down, and only 2 more left in the transfer. Elder Cox - TopicsExpress

Another week down, and only 2 more left in the transfer. Elder Cox is having a hard time coming to grips with that fact, haha. I can not imagine the feelings. Luckily I have another 6 months before I have to think about that. This last week was highlighted by the baptisms of Cierja, and Josh as you know from my last weeks email. They were both amazing, and some of the best moments of my whole mission. Cierja has a fourth of Native American in her, and a great uncle that is full blooded. Her uncle is a super active, temple recommend holder. He baptized her and confirmed her at church the next day. Cierja and her whole family come from a long line of members of the church, and a lot of them live in Brigham City.. most of them are just less active. There were a ton of her family at the baptism though, it was great. There was a marvelous spirit there, especially as I shared the first vision with everyone in attendance as Cierja was changing after she was baptized. The feeling was an experience that I will never forget, I can only think of 1 other occasion where I felt the spirit as strong as I did then. I wrote all about it in my journal Mom, not to worry, haha. It was awesome to get to know Uncle Pete (his real name is Rios Pacheco) .. he knows his lamanite heritage well and we actually learned a ton of cool things from him. We learned that they give something called an Indian Blessing where the purpose is to take all the good traditions and pass them down to the next generation and they cut out all the wicked traditions that may be lingering around. The theory behind it is that with the passing of the generations the wicked traditions will eventually all be cut out of the family. Pretty cool stuff. Also Uncle Pete made Cierja a sweet indian neckalace for her baptism, that expresses the great significance of her baptism. Then on Sunday Elder Cox and I were surpised with a pen that was embroidered with an indian design by Uncle Pete. He was so grateful to see Cierja be baptized and for the help we have been giving to the whole family. It was a neat experience. Joshs baptism was simply amazing too. There was a huge turn out from the YSA ward, and his friends. He has known a lot of LDS kids, and some of them are return missionaries. All of his family also came, included his non-member Mom and Sister. We called Josh up after he was baptized and asked him how he felt. He said, this is the happiest day of my life .. super awesome experience. He has already been interviewed by the bishop and will be given the Aaronic Priesthood in a couple weeks, then we will go with him to do baptisms for the dead. We are still not sure if he is planning on going on a mission himself, but we will see! This Thursday, in 2 days, we have another baptism of Muriel Miller, the 70 year old lady. That will most definitely be another fantastic day. She had her interview yesterday and is all set! And then on June 2nd, this coming Monday we are planning on having the baptism of Cia too! She is the 9 year old girl that we have been working with that has the step Mom that was holding back for whatever reason. We finally came to a day and time. Cia is really excited and even brought one of her cousins to church this last Sunday, already doing missionary work.
