Heres a workshop for August 1-2, 2014 1.0 CEUs for $60.00 Vocational Rehabilitation Interpreting: The Koi Effect Program dates: Friday, August 1, 2014 6 p.m.-9 p.m. and Saturday, August 2, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Program description: Interpreting in VR settings is complex. The work of the VR interpreter impacts the lives of many: deaf and hearing consumers, deaf professionals, families, employers, and more. It requires a high degree of competence in an array of complicated contexts and settings with a diverse population of Deaf, DeafBlind, and hard of hearing individuals. In this workshop, participants will gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the challenging field of VR interpreting and the variety of rewarding opportunities it offers. Topics include VR and the VR process, vocabulary building, interpreting for VR consumers and Deaf professionals, ethical decision-making, and interpreting observation/practice. This interactive workshop and accompanying resources will enhance participants interpreting work in VR and other specialties. Instructors: Diane Currie Richardson and Christine Marble have 55+ years of combined interpreting experience - almost 40 of which have been in VR. Diane works as a staff interpreter for Vocational Rehabilitation Services in St. Paul, and Chris is the CEO of Career Ventures, Inc.
