Anyone looking for another reason not to trust Russian state-controlled NTV (ntv.ru), or Russian railroad crossings in general, should see this. Yesterday, in broad daylight, a commuter train collided with a passenger car at a crossing in Scherbinka, just south of Moscow. The driver of the car was seriously injured. The first video below is the news story NTV immediately ran - a story that ends with testimony from an unidentified man in a red Russian Railroad employee vest who puts the blame squarely on the driver - he says the driver went around a closed gate. This turns out to be a complete lie: the second video below clearly shows the train plowing into a stream of cars going bumper-to-bumper through an open crossing.
