Apparently, according to Fox News, pilots in countries using the metric system may get confused between miles and kms, celsius and fahrenheit, hence all recent crashes in Asia. On the other hand it may be because US pilots dont fly on auto pilot. Of course the US is about the only non-metric country in the world, certainly the only major one, despite the fact that metrication went into law in the 70s. I heard an argument on TV while living there where a bloke said it was impossible to mark half a mm with a carpenters pencil. Apparently 1/64th of an inch can be marked because inch is not some foreign concept. European universities will no longer accept papers from US academics on US-letter size paper, they must be to A4 dimensions, which is seen as another effeminate European plot. Americans will proudly point to the fact that they are metricated - after all their GPS voices say Turn left in 1.8 miles - thats metrification for you. Decimal and metric are apparently the same thing. https://youtube/watch?v=U1EjUOkOZSE
