Appeal for witnesses after police car windscreen smashed in act of senseless vandalism A police car windscreen was smashed in Wigan as officers responded to a call. Officers from the Wigan East Neighbourhood Policing team were responding to a complaint on the Hag Fold Estate in Atherton at around 4pm on Monday when they were told that their vehicle had been damaged. Upon returning to the car the officers discovered that its windscreen had been smashed but found no sign of the offender or the implement that had been used to cause the damage. Police are now appealing for witnesses. PC Chris Waddicar said: “This is an act of senseless vandalism that has targeted officers who were only trying to do their job.
