Appeal to your generosity to help save the life of my cousin Hello, hope you are keeping well, I truly need your help. My cousin’s baby son aged 14 months named Jean Mathis Damien CHEDDY has been diagnosed with a genetic disease called IPEX Syndrome. This disease has affected his immune system and lead to multiple organ failures. The only cure for this disease is a Bone Marrow Transplantation and the success cure rate for such transplant is 50% and is not feasible in Mauritius. The Ministry of Health in Mauritius has referred the child to Apollo Speciality Hospital in Chennai (ASHC) where this treatment is available and has subsidised MUR 500,000 to help the parents of the child. The child is actually at ASHC and has started treatment of elemental feeds with neocate, skin care creams for dermatitis and hormone replacement therapy for adrenal, thyroid and parathyroid failures. Next step for his treatment is the stem cell transplantation. The baby’s siblings have been tested however none of them fully matches. In that respect an unrelated transplantation is considered and prior to start a worldwide search in International Registries, a HLA high resolution testing should be put in place (1 week time frame is estimated) and the cost for the testing is MUR 12,400 (USD 400). Step 2 of the treatment will then be the unrelated search in International registries (3 weeks) and depending on where a match is found the stem cells is assessed at MUR 1,240,000 (USD 40,000). Upon the match being found, the transplantation can begin and the time frame for the treatment for a minimum of 6 months would cost another additional MUR 1,550,000 (USD 50,000). The ASHC now awaits a payment of MUR 1,252,400 (USD 40,400) to start the stem cells search to be in a position to initiate the treatment. Thereafter the MUR 1,550,000 (USD 50,000) would be required to continue the treatment. The parents being from a low socio economic background is in a financial difficulty to meet their child’s treatment and part of the grant donated by the government of Mauritius has been used for the travel expenses to India and to initiate the treatment to make him stable and infection free. My cousin has obtained a permit to make a public collection throughout the island for the purpose of raising funds. Two bank accounts in favour of Mike Noel Cheddy have been opened with MCB 000442216459 and SBM 04210100061388 in that respect. You may also contact me on 910 7872 or my cousin Mike on 764 0053 should you wish to contribute in cash. The least cent counts and can make a consequent sum when adding up, so please donate whatever you can to help save the life of my little cousin. My sincere thanks for your kind human gesture. Grateful if you could please on pass the message to your contacts also.
