Apple - Con merchants I had an issue with my iPad. It wouldnt charge via mains / computer so I rang up Apples help desk. They said the battery is most likely to be faulty so they said to take it to store and it would costs £79 to replace the battery. I went to the store today where the advisor said its not the battery instead the whole iPad needs replacing at a cost of £199!!! After recovering from the initial shock I said that the help desk said it should be £79 for the parts to be repaired. The advisor said no; then I asked him if I would get the latest iPad 3 (mines a iPad 2), he said no; that I would get like for like which I couldnt believe as I could spend around £300 on top to get the latest version. I was angry and demanded to talk to the manager. After a while, he came back without the manager and said that they would fulfil the erraneous quote of £79. I was like okay good. Instead of replacing it for the new like for like iPad, he said they would need to order in the part (battery) for the iPad?!? Why the hell could he not repair the part in the first place instead of saying that I would have to pay £199 for a new iPad? Scam artists. Apple know that people are Apple-mad and they will pay the £199 just to keep in with the rest of the sheep.
