Apple Mac Computer owners Ever hear of fixing permissions (defragging)? 99% do not. If your computer is slowing or some programs don’t work like they use to, this is how to fix it. Locate the disk utility in Applications fold under utilities. Drag to the tool bar to remind you to do this once a week! Fixing the applications Open disk utilities, choose Macintosh Hard Drive, select repair disk permissions. You will see of things that were wrong with the applications. close when finished; it will let you know @ the end of list so scroll down the list. By using various photo programs & the internet, this fragments the software. Note that only fixes the applications. The operating system cannot be fixed while it’s running the computer. Fixing the Operating System software: Restart of turn the computer on & immediately hold command r until a screen appears. Choose language & more to next page. You will see the utilities @ the left top of the page. Open, choose disk utilities & proceed as before. When finished, close & go back to utilities, select start up disk & select Mac OS & then restart. Since I use complex programs & the internet daily, I have to @ least do applications daily & the system once a week. Note, there is also a repair disk option. Use this on external drives & if fixing permissions does not solve your problem. Again, to fix the OS, you must do the alernate start up (command r)
