Apply what you have learned. As we walk our journey we gather - TopicsExpress

Apply what you have learned. As we walk our journey we gather huge amounts of information, from friends and strangers, media, internet, meditation. Some of this relevant for now, some to be stored away for a future occasion, some to be rejected and some to be a catalyst for a shift in perception, sometimes it is validation, just a little sign to let you know you are on the right path and sometimes it can spur us into action. Because of the vast amount of info that we receive it is good to allow yourself time for reflection, to step back and look at this new information within the bigger picture, what does it mean? Everything in our lives has a meaning, a purpose; they are all parts of an infinite and intricate jigsaw. You do not need to vigorously pursue the answer but you do have to ask the question. What does it mean? What does this new information mean to me? How does it make me feel? Do I resonate with it? Does it feel right to me? Sit with this for a while. What does this new information and how I feel about it mean to my existing belief structure, does it fit or does it throw everything into doubt? Your ego at this point may jump in and say “oh you are opening a can of worms here, just leave it alone, ignore the new information and carry on as you were, it is so much easier” Sit with this, just allow the questions to be answered, they will, just let go of all expectation. Give yourself time to integrate this new perception, these things can’t be rushed and don’t worry if you feel more confused at first. Just let everything settle in. Then live it. If you don’t ask the question what does this mean? (Or a variation of it) then although something may resonate with it and you know it to be true. You may believe in it wholeheartedly but if you don’t ask what does it mean to me, how does this change or apply to my life, then they are just words, they are hypotheticals. You need to be proactive, take what you have learned and apply it, live it, only then can it be real. I see a lot of people at the moment trapped in this box, they believe in spiritual development, they are actively searching for the answers and they often find some of them, they learn the tools for self-development but they don’t stop and ask the question, they don’t apply what they have learned. Therefore their life is in two halves, living in the “real” world and believing in their spiritual world Having your existing belief structure questioned or blown apart is not easy and can tend to have an avalanche effect in all areas of your life but you are all strong enough to deal with it after all you are returning to your natural state so the pull is great. We have to let go of all our belief structures and embrace the new and that is what your life is helping you to achieve at the moment. Always question everything, with all of your senses; never passively or unconsciously take on new information. Put it to the test, does it hold water, how does it apply to your life and your experiences, how does it feel? The more we are consciously aware in every moment the greater and deeper the change. Take for example two drunk drivers who nearly died crashing their cars. Initially they are both grateful to be alive, their realisation of their own mortality being a massive shock to the system and they vow they will grab this second chance with both hands. Month’s later one is back drinking and possibly driving and the other has turned his life around, quit drinking and attending AA. The first person had felt the initial shock and the reaction was to change, that primal reaction to protect yourself after such trauma. Gratitude again is another primal reaction to near death. These are gut reactions if you like, are passive. Once the shock had worn off, normal service resumed and nothing had changed. The second person however, took those feelings that came with the shock, those revelations and took a closer look. They became active; they took this as another aspect of their journey, another avenue to be explored. They looked at it closely, what did it mean for them and they looked at it from the wider perspective. In the initial stages they were reactive; in the second stage they were proactive. Being proactive brings it into physical reality, it grounds it. This is the difference between intellectually knowing and being, when you integrate your learning on every level, when you see how it fits into the bigger picture, when you give new concepts and perceptions the space to express themselves and then put them to the test, then you will see your life fundamentally change on a deep solid and steady level. Gone is the pendulum swing of life, where good times are followed by a crash. You are being you and your life reflects that. So take stock, look at what you have learned and what that mean s to you in all areas of your life, then apply it consciously every day, you are not the puppet you are the master.
