April, for me, is a month of inspiration. Three very important people in my life survived incredibly difficult events and remind us all about strength, determination and perseverance. John survived a three story fall out of window at URI in April 2003 and after a severe brain injury he learned to walk, talk and care for himself all over again. We didnt think he would live, and now he is getting married in October. Wanda and her family, including this amazing little guy, Adrian, survived a tragic house fire in April 2011 and have been through more surgeries than I can count and had to rebuild their home. If you spoke to this little guy you would realize he is the happiest kid and we all could learn a thing or two from him about confidence. And we all know my cousin Heather. It has been almost one year since the Boston Marathon bombings... but losing her leg has done anything but slow her down in any aspect of her life. April reminds me how lucky I am to still have these three amazing people in my life... And that we can live through difficult times and come out stronger than we could ever imagine. These three people are truly my heroes.
