Aranha-golias-comedora-de-pássaro (Theraphosa blondi) da família da tarântula, Thephosidae; encontrada na América do Sul, é uma das maiores aranhas do mundo, chegando a medir cerca de 30cm. Possui presas com grande quantidade de veneno, embora não seja fatal para os seres humanos, e o corpo é coberto por cerdas urticantes as quais, quando se sentindo ameaçada, ela esfrega com as patas para lançar no ar, que causam dor e uma forte irritação nas pessoas. Goliath bird eating spider (Theraphosa blondi) belongs to the tarantula family, Theraphosidae; found in South America, is one of the largest spiders in the world, measuring up to about 12 inches of leg span. It has fangs with a large amount of venom, although not fatal to humans, and the body is covered with urticating hairs which, when feeling threatened, she rubs with her paws to launch it into the air, which causes in people pain and the strong irritation.
