Archibuilt 2013 Begins in Abuja Archibuilt, an annual international forum organised by the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) has started in Abuja. It is the single largest marketing opportunity for construction and building materials, and the single largest gathering of key players in the building industry, a showcase of the latest innovations, technologies and orientations in architecture and the construction sector. In a statement by the Chairman Media and Publicity Committee, Lanre Olusola, the Archibuilt 2013 exhibition, being the first on the platform of Archibuilt Development Services (ADSL), will focus on bringing together stakeholders in the building and construction industry with a view to addressing the need of the sector. Among the audience/exhibitors are a set of policy makers. These include: Manufactures and Representatives, Producers, Exporters and Importers, Suppliers, Manufactures, Installers of housing fixings like lifts, etc, Remodelling Contractors, Fabricators, Distributors, Allied Products, Facility Managers, Home Builders, Building Contractors, Government and NGOs. He said this year’s event consist of four days of exhibition and three days of discussion. It will be declared open on August 27 by Ms Ama Pepple the Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, while the Managing Director Julius Berger Nigeria Plc will deliver the keynote address. The chairman Senate committee on housing and his counterpart in House of Representatives will be the guests of Honour, while Mr. Jimoh Faworaja, the chairman of Archibuilt board, will be the chief host. The 24 year-old Archibuilt has been repackaged from seminar and conference sessions to discussions on the theme ‘Providing Solutions to every Day Living’ such as the issues of social housing, power, infrastructure , “with focus on where we are, where we are supposed to be and how to get there.” Members of the National Assembly, Non Governmental Organisations (NGO) and other stakeholders have been invited. This year’s Archibuilt feature over 200 exhibitors drawn from within and outside the country, while most of the discussants are drawn from private sector for finding practical solutions to issues on the discussion.
