Are you in Year 12/13 (or aged 16 – 19yrs) and thinking about doing an Art Foundation course or Arts based degree at University, then this workshop is for you! Granville Plus Youth Arts Centre has been working with Camden Arts Centre as part of the Insight’s Project for the last three years, and as a result our members have secured places on Degree and Foundation Courses at Central St Martin’s College of Art and Design / Camberwell College of Art, and university degree courses in Graphic Design and Architecture. The Insights Project is for students who are interested in studying art / design courses at Higher Education, and the following workshop will help you to apply for a place at University. DATE: Thursday 16 October 14 TIME: 6pm – 8pm VENUE: Granville Youth Arts Centre, 80 Granville Road, Kilburn, NW6 5RA COST: FREE!!! Professional artists will work with you in a group and one to one basis to discuss topics such as choosing Universities, deciding on courses, and thinking ahead to the types of careers available within the creative industries. The workshop will include the following; - Meet the education team at Camden Arts Centre. - Individual tutorials looking at your work and discussing your ideas and interests. - Advice, guidance and discussion on important decisions to be made in Year 13. - Information about career progression within the arts - Advice how to apply for Foundation courses and what your portfolio should include. - Opportunity to speak to a past Central Saint Martins student to hear first hand experience and view their portfolio - Opportunity to speak to an arts professional and hear first hand experience of working and studying within the arts The session will include both discussions and practical activities, and you will be invited to get further involved in the project, including taking part in trips and workshops with Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design, and Camden Arts Centre later in the year. You will also be invited to bring along some of your current art work, (or documentation of your current art work) and sketchbooks for 1:1 tutorials with the Insight’s Team during the workshop.
