Are you ready for some snow? Ready or not, were tracking a clipper system likely to bring accumulating snow showers our way beginning Tuesday morning. This will slow Tuesday evening. And re-emerge Wednesday as squalls of snow from the north. Along with this snow system, dangerously cold temperatures are on the way too. Lows in the single digits and wind chill even colder than that, Thursday morning. This begins as snow showers Tuesday morning with lows in the teens. Snow lingers into the afternoon. Before tapering to only the mountains by the evening hours. Highs into the 20s and 30s Tuesday. Overnight lows in the teens Wednesday with wind chill in the single digits. More snow returns Wednesday as snow squalls from the north. Overall accumulation looks like 1-2 along and west of the I-79 corridor. East of that, amounts begin to increase. 2-3 for Barbour County, Buckhannon, and Upshur County including Philippi. Once you get into the eastern mountainous counties near Tucker, Randolph, Preston, and far western Pocahontas, you see amounts in the 4+ range. Wednesdays snow squalls are fairly unpredictable in their path. That could bring heavier amounts in isolated regions. Or nothing additional. Even colder for us Thursday morning. Lows all the way down into the single digits with wind chill in the negative temperature range. This is going to be our coldest night. Remember: 1. Pets, 2. Plants, 3. Pipes. Overnight lows into Friday morning in the teens. And afternoon highs in the 20s Friday. Right now, we have next weekend in the 30s. But were watching for the chance of colder temperatures to return again. Enjoy our first significant snowfall of the season. Stay safe! Meteorologist Kristian Claus - WBOY 12 News.
