#Arsenal win, #Manchester clubs cruise Arsenal went five points clear at the top of the Premier League after they beat Liverpool 2-0 at Emirates Stadium. Goals from Santi Cazorla and Aaron Ramsey took the Gunners to their third straight win in the top flight as they eased five clear of both Liverpool and Chelsea. Cazorla opened the scoring on 19 minutes, reacting quickest to volley home after his own header had come back off the upright. And Ramsey made the game safe on the hour mark with a thumping strike from distance after Mesut Ozil squared the ball to him. Liverpools strike force of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge had a rare off day. Chelsea suffered a shock loss at Newcastle, as both Manchester United and City cruised to victories in their meetings with Fulham and Norwich respectively. In the lunchtime kickoff, Newcastle provided an immediate response to their derby defeat to Sunderland as they denied Chelsea a fifth consecutive Premier League victory, running out 2-0 winners at St James Park. John Terry saw his header hit the woodwork in a first half that proved to be as dull as the Tyneside weather, before proceedings improved after the break when Petr Cech was at his best to deny both Moussa Sissoko and Loic Remy. However, the Chelsea goalkeeper was left powerless when Yoan Gouffran stooped to head in Yohan Cabayes free-kick with 22 minutes to go. Willian and Samuel Etoo saw chances of a late equaliser go begging before Remy put the result beyond doubt when his crashing left-footed shot found the net off the inside of the post. Manchester United secured their fourth win in a row as they romped to a 3-1 victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage. Antonio Valencia opened the scoring for the reigning champions after nine minutes thanks to a Wayne Rooney assist. Robin van Persie then doubled the lead on the 20-minute mark after the Dutchman was played in by Adnan Januzaj. Rooney then found the back of the net two minutes later with an easy tap-in after Van Persie cut the ball back from the touchline. Fulham netted a consolation when Alexander Kacaniklics shot deflected off Rooney in the 65th minute. At the end of a week dominated by talk about their goalkeeping, Manchester Citys strikers stole the headlines with a scintillating 7-0 win against Norwich City. Joe Hart, as had been rumoured all week, was dropped by manager Manuel Pellegrini after the latest in a string of errors cost City a last-minute defeat to Chelsea last Sunday. However, City could have played without a goalkeeper at all, given their dominance against Norwich. A deflected goal from Sergio Aguero, later credited as a Bradley Johnson own goal, opened the scoring after 16 minutes, and four minutes later David Silva added a second. It was 3-0 after 25 minutes through Matija Nastasic, and the embarrassment kept on coming as Alvaro Negredo made it four with nine minutes still to go in the first half. Yaya Toure made it 5-0 on the hour mark before Aguero finally did get on the scoresheet with No. 6 with almost a quarter of the match still remaining. Edin Dzeko completed the scoring with five minutes to go. Loic Remy wrapped up a shock win for Newcastle against Chelsea. Sunderland failed to build on their derby victory over Newcastle as Gus Poyets side slumped to a disastrous 1-0 defeat to Hull City at the KC Stadium. Following a slow start in Yorkshire, the home side went ahead in fortuitous fashion after 25 minutes when Carlos Cuellar headed Liam Roseniors cross into his own net. A bad situation suddenly became a catastrophic one for Poyet and Co as the away side were reduced to nine men shortly before the interval; first, Lee Cattermole saw the familiar sight of a red card following a poor challenge on Ahmed Elmohamady, before Andrea Dossena was given his marching orders for a nasty stamp on David Meyler. It did not get any better after the break as George Boyd and Elmohamady both missed half chances but by then the damage had seemingly been done. However, Steve Harper brilliantly denied Adam Johnson late on before Jake Livermore hit the woodwork at the other end, but it was Steve Bruce who was left smiling after a vital win and retribution over his former club. Asmir Begovic became only the fifth goalkeeper to score in the Premier League as Stoke and Southampton played out a 1-1 draw at the Britannia Stadium. With only 14 seconds on the clock, Begovic opened his account in bizarre fashion as windy conditions played havoc in the Potteries; his long punt forward was left by visiting backline, only for the ball to loop over Arthur Borucs head and into the net. However, shortly before half-time Southampton were level; James Ward-Prowse found Jay Rodriguez with a crossfield ball, before the striker advanced unchallenged to head the ball into the ground and over the Boruc. Ward-Prowse went close with a free-kick at the start of the second half, Ryan Shawcross headed over but neither side could find the finishing touch. Shawcross appeared to handle the ball in the box, but Southampton were denied a late penalty and a chance of all three points as referee Chris Foy waved away their appeal. West Brom held on to record a narrow 2-0 win over bottom-placed Crystal Palace, with Saido Berahino and Gareth McAuley earning the points for Steve Clarkes side. Boaz Myhill produced a sharp save to deny Adlene Guediouras snap shot early on, but that was the strikers only contribution as he was stretchered off following a collision with the West Brom goalkeeper. Shortly before half-time, substitute Berahino - who scored his sides winner at Old Trafford in September - gave Albion the lead when he swept the ball into the bottom corner. Shane Long was then denied what surely would have been a second for West Brom when Joel Ward superbly cleared Morgan Amalfitanos cross. It almost came back to haunt the hosts, but Marouane Chamakhs miscontrol rolled agonisingly wide of Myhills post. That sort of luck evades you at the bottom, as McAuley headed in at the back post to put the game to bed with six minutes to go. West Ham and Aston Villa played out an entertaining but ultimately goalless draw at Upton Park. Villa started strongly as Andreas Weimann was denied by Jussi Jaaskelainen, before the home side responded through former Villa winger Stewart Downing, However, his effort was aimed straight at Brad Guzan as the first half drew to a close. Christian Bentekes should have done better from six yards out, but his effort hit the woodwork before Kevin Nolan went close at the other end. However, neither team could find a breakthrough and were left to share the spoils after a frustrating afternoon in the final third.
