As I always say, The DUMBEST thing Ive ever done financially was pay off old debts that were already outside the statute of limitations in hopes of cleaning up my credit to buy a $550k house. The SMARTEST thing Ive ever done financially was STOP paying the mortgage on the house I was foolish enough to get into debt over in the first place. $3,300/month in true real estate costs over 64 months is $211,200 in pure cash savings alone that I didnt have to spend. That has no mention whatsoever on the investment returns of the initial portions of that since 2009. The total return from investing in the ashes of the stock market ? boy shut yo mouf Key takeaways: When I had a great credit score I was stressed out, broke as a joke and over $550k in debt. When I had a bad credit score I was debt free and able to see more money than Ive ever seen in my life. And THAT was back then. So shout out to so called good debt. But even better, shout out to never having to work again.
