As I ponder this school year that is about to close, I have to say it has been just about the best year Michael & I have ever had. I know we say that every year; we were blessed with great teachers for our boys through PES, we had laughs and fun through it all. Elementary school was great......we started middle school with minor trepidation & concerns. Who wouldnt? But these boys jumped in with both feet and did fantastic. They picked up instruments for the first time in 6th grade. (Other than the recorders with Ms. Davis!) They advanced over milestones year after year while there. Surprising and shocking both of us along the way. They never shocked Their band director Janet Roach tho...she always knew what was hiding inside them. Thanks Janet Hamilton Roach! We said goodbye to middle school with sadness, but with lots of memories of teachers and laughter and fun and even some problems......middle school is NEVER easy! We also left there with anticipation of a new school, life, ideals as well as prospects of new opportunities. Always trying to keep the bigger picture in view. Michael & I never thought it could get any better. But it has, for Jacob & Josh, they have made new life long friends, many of them heading to college in the fall. They have solidified friendships they have had since kindergarten and they have grown into interesting young men. They are still growing. They have handled all honors academic classes this year. Some were easy, some had them close to losing their Jesus. But through it all they have prevailed and believe it or not, learned! They became a part of something much bigger than themselves in the marching band. It has opened doors for them that we never knew where even there. As for Michael & I, we have met so many wonderful young men and ladies. All of which we are proud to know and will always be welcome in our home. We also met some very great parents that we are honored to call friends. Its been a fantastic first year of high school for the boys and us too. But with all that said............I am SO READY for this school year to be done.
