As Ive watched the situation in Ferguson, MO, I see a rather disturbing pattern that continues to permeate American culture. And that pattern is simply that black on white crime is handled differently than white on black crime or black on black crime: young African-American male gunned down, by a Caucasian male, like wild game and lifeless body left in the street for hours. Officer is placed on paid administrative leave, no witnesses interviewed. Trayvon Martin is executed by George Zimmerman and Zimmerman is allowed to go home and conduct business as usual and is later exonerated by a biased jury. Jordan Davis is executed and three other friends fired upon while Michael Dunn leaves the scene with his girlfriend, checks into a hotel, walks his dog and later the next day talks to the police. In the trial hes convicted of attempted 2nd degree murder on the three friends but no conviction on executing Jordan Davis. Eric Garner is choked to death by a NYC cop and decision is pending. Young African-American male arrested in Jonesboro, AR for possession of a controlled substance. Hes handcuffed (both hands behind his back) placed in the police cruiser and then somehow shoots himself in the head with a gun thats on his person that wasnt t discovered during the search. Again, Jonesboro, AR in March 2013, two African American males and two female companions leave a local Wal-Mart heading back to Arkansas State University where all four were enrolled and are pulled over for no reason by a local officer. He requested license, insurance and registration which were all provided. After a period of time, the officer instructs the older male to exit the vehicle and come to the back of the car. The officer informs him that hes not on the insurance. Young man states that hes indeed on the insurance and always have been. Officer didnt issue any citations because he discovered that the young man wasnt an idiot but informed him that he needed to appear in court. Long story short, young man appeared in court and the judge was wondering as to why he was in court because their wasnt a problem. Officer never could explain why he pulled the vehicle over. Since no one could explain it, I will: its called (DWB) driving while black. The two young men were my very own Sons... These type of incidents happen daily in America. Do you think if the roles were reversed that a Caucasian child would have been left lying dead in the street? Do you think that if Trayvon Martin had executed George Zimmerman that he would been allowed to go home? Do you think that if Jordan Davis and his friends had murdered Michael Dunn that they would have been allowed to just leave the scene? Do you really believe that Eric Garner could have just choked the life out of a Caucasian and it not be a big deal? What about the young man who allegedly killed himself had been a Caucasian male? Would my sons had been stopped if they were Caucasian? The answer to each scenario is a resounding NO. Before many of you whore reading this post accuse me of race baiting, let me assure you that Im not a race baiter but a truth teller. The truth is the institutional racism that is at the very root of America is still alive and well. And, when someone such as myself point out this disparity, Im accused of playing the race card. The truth is that the race problem in America wasnt created by blacks. Blacks arent the creators of the deck, owners of the deck or the dealers from the deck. So, to those who dont want the card played, I suggest that you just simply destroy the deck and the problem is solved. Before Im accused of being biased or one sided in my comments, let me rush to say that all criminal activity is despicable; black on black crime included. However, black folk are arrested and prosecuted daily for crimes as well as all lawbreakers should be. However, theres a disturbing pattern of Justice when blacks commit crimes against whites vs whites committing crimes against blacks. Its my prayer that the hearts of all men are changed by the transforming power of Christ. Therell be no peace until we allow the Prince of Peace to come into our respective lives. I trust that everyone whos reading this post will take the aforementioned words to heart.
