As-Salaam Alaikum Beloved Brothers and Sisters: This brief message is to thank you for the support you have extended to the Lighthouse Mosque. Our previous fundraiser was a tremendous success. With the support of so many wonderful believers like you we raised close to $150,000. We thank Allah abundantly for blessing that effort. Unfortunately, as you all know, $150,000 does not go very far in the Bay area real estate market. We continued our fundraising efforts through private channels and we were once again blessed with the support of very generous individuals. We were able to collect another $300,000 dollars, bringing our total to about $450,000. As our fiscal resources grew so too did the possible sites for the permanent home of the Lighthouse Mosque. Finally, within the last month, we were able to reach an agreement with Pastor Christopher Williams of the Harvest Fellowship Church 620 42nd Street Oakland Ca, just four blocks from the current rented location of the Mosque. This church has a lot of rich history associated with many of the religious and social movements which have made Oakland such a diverse and dynamic city. The price we have agreed on with the church is $550,000, which leaves us a little over $100,000 short of the purchase price. We need your support to bridge this gap. Thus, we are inviting you and members of your community to join us for a fundraising event, Sunday, May 4, 2014, from 4:00pm-9:00pm at Chandni Restaurant in Newark, California. This event will feature myself along with Shaykh Aladdin Bakri, Imam Tahir Anwar, Sister Amina Jandali, Dr. Muhammad Rajabally, and the world-renowned comedian, Preacher Moss of Allah Made me Funny. Please join us for an evening of praise and sadaqah as we consolidate our move to the next level of the Lighthouse Mosque’s mission to build Muslim unity, one heart at a time.
