As a portrait photographer Ive been asked many times what makes a good picture? Is it composition, environment, hair or makeup, clothing, lighting, pose? Sure, they all play a big part but truth be told the single most important factor Ive found is Integrity. All the elements I mentioned above could be perfect but if your subject or model (or the photographer for that matter) lacks integrity in what he or she feels about themselves it is immediately and overwhelmingly apparent in the eyes and body language. The shot will lack emotion and a true sense of connection with the viewer. I love capturing true, raw, emotion. There is beauty in emotional integrity.
