As a retail worker, I am astonished at how far America has strayed from tradition. This year the mall that I work at will be opening at 6 pm on Thanksgiving to start the craziness that used to be Black Friday...now I just dont know what it is. If youre lucky, you dont get scheduled or you can choose to request it off. If youre like me, you get scheduled regardless. My shift on Thanksgiving is scheduled for 5:30 pm. That doesnt even give me a full evening with my family. How messed up does America have to be to put our capitalistic nature above a national holiday?As a retail worker and a member of a family who heavily celebrates Thanksgiving, I am asking you to boycott this ridiculous practice. Help employees stay at home with their families during the holidays and do not go out shopping on Thanksgiving.
