As always, his base premise is flawed. What a dumbass. ------------------------------------------------------ Condemn the Policies if We Must, but Not the Office of the Man Commentary by Captain Paul Watson As a Canadian who is also an American I have to say that I agree with this article written by a Canadian about some of the attitudes towards the President of the United States by some Americans. I voted for President Obama in 2008. I did not vote for him in 2012. Instead I voted for the Green Party candidate for President (Yes there was a Green Party Candidate for President) Her name was Jill Stein. I voted for her because President Obama failed to deliver on his campaign promises of 2008 and because he signed the Patriot Act which I consider to be an affront to freedom. I am in opposition to him on the war, to his support of Monsanto and BP and many other grievances. However once elected he was once again the President of the United States of America and as such he is there by the will of the people of the United States and he is there until 2016 at which point the American people will have the opportunity to vote for another person for President. Not only was President Obama elected in 2008, he was re-elected, and that reinforces the fact that he is there by virtue of the will of the people of the Untied States. To oppose the elected President of the United States in any manner other than the electoral process is to oppose the Constitution of the United States. To defame and insult the President of the United States is to defame and insult the American people. I am not a huge fan of President Obama. I am disappointed in his administration, but this does not give me the right to wish him ill nor to denigrate his person, to call him names or to abuse his office. Those who wish the President to fail are wishing for America to fail. Presidents can be respectfully opposed but they should be opposed in such a manner that the dignity of their office is not denigrated. I may not respect many of the policies of President Obama but I must as an American respect the office that he holds and the dignity of the man who holds that office. The United States is very much a house divided and unless we learn to respectfully debate our opposing views the climate of hostility and mutual disrespect will continue to fester. America did not elect Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Karl Rove, Sarah Pallin or any of the others who so viciously insult this President, our President. American elected (twice) the man who now resides in the White House and if they do not like him, that is simply too bad because the electorate put him there and to reject that one fact is to undermine the integrity of democracy in the United States of America.
