As an ARTIST I have seen every major cause fund raise on the backs of the Artist. Many ARTISTS close to homeless and looking for a way to just make it to the next months rent or utility bill. Also I have donated to a number of very very worthy causes. There are causes like Homeless women with HIV, Children with HIV, Womens Breast Cancer, American Heart Disease, Central American Refugee Center, .... any way I could donate to one every week or month as can most Artists. Some people say that I have name recognition and when I donate it pulls other ARTISTS in. I am humbled by that, THAT is a huge responsibility. Which I do not take lightly. But I have made a decision that I can feel good about. I CAN GIVE A CASH DONATION and not contribute art to any FUNDRAISER THAT DOES NOT GIVE THE ARTIST A PORTION OF THE MONEY RAISED FROM THEIR ART. If I donate it puts pressure on other artists maybe struggling artists to donate 100%. If I am participating in an auction, it is because it is allowing the artist to be renumerated in part for their work. As a non-profit you can make more money by receiving art that is more valuable and sold for more than a work that will only benefit you at $25-$50.100% of $25-$100 is only that, but if an artist can have 50% they can donate works worth worth $500-$3,000. They stand a better chance of making more money. IF YOU ARE AN ARTIST AND AGREE WITH ME OR A PATRON OF THE ARTS PLEASE GIVE ME A THUMBS UP. SHARE THIS PLEASE
