As explained in detail in my Phantom Menace books on food and eating issues - as well as in my book The Anti-Diet Approach - negative self-talk leads you right where you DONT WANT to go. Negative self-talk leads to depressed feelings and mood - even feelings of hopelessness and helplessness in the moment - these are intense feelings that seek relief and release - So then what do you do? -> retreat into food with either overeating, or binge eating episodes: In the moment you give up and then you accept all the guilt, remorse, shame and depression and anxiety that comes with acting on that impulse: and then the cycle continues -> eating, guilt, depression, anxiety, shame, then negative self-talk - then seek relief in food - then lather, rinse and repeat - Arent you tired of it?
