As local politics continue to make headlines in our country, it is very important to read and listen wisely to what is going on. Most of us who follow local politics and support specific parties, view many things (if not all of them) from the eyes of a political party and not the truth. Of course many Malawians base their political affiliations from their tribes, regions and their personal relationship with a political leader. As a result, we don’t even ask ourselves honest questions like what caused that? Why is this going that way? Who is wrong? Instead we just defend our leaders ignorantly and attack others shamelessly, we don’t even mind whether we are saying the truth or not as much as we defend our political party. Most of us take what our political party says as an absolute truth, without even questioning some things. If we don’t change this attitude politics in this country will remain a battle ground, and at the end poor Malawians will be the great losers. May the good Lord help us to see things the way they are and make sound judgments based on the truth and honesty.
