As many of you may know, Doug grew up around the horse track and loved betting on the ponies. As a second job, he eventually worked for both the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club and Sycuan as a Pari-Mutuel Clerk. It was at Del Mar, while he was working that we met and a few years later where he proposed to me in a hot air balloon. We made it a tradition to bring the kids here yearly so that they could enjoy the atmosphere that we all learned to love through him. Del Mar is a place where we have so many beautiful memories that we cherish so deeply. In honor of Doug, The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club has so very kindly dedicated a race in his name. The “DOUGLAS MENEGOS MEMORIAL RACE” will be held on Saturday, August 16th (exact race will not be known until close to the event). Anyone wanting to celebrate one of Doug’s passionate hobbies are more than welcomed to join us! We will be sitting in Stretch Run Level 4, sections 14 & 15. Let this not be a day of sadness, but a day for family and friends to honor this kind, beautiful man in the place that he loved most!
