As most of you know I grew up beside Sugar Hill Baptist Church. - TopicsExpress

As most of you know I grew up beside Sugar Hill Baptist Church. The graveyard and parking lot were my playground. Several houses down lived a wonderful lady who many of you have mentioned and who was well known in our community for her sweets. Several on here have mentioned her chocolate oatmeal cookies and her popcorn balls, but does anyone remember her fried apple pies. WOW simply the best. Yes, Anna Lees and Hazel Lawings were two houses you did not want to miss on Halloween. That is if you could handle Floyd Lawing putting a sweet tater in your candy sack. Anyway back to my story. Anna Lee was a great woman of faith. If Chapter 11 of Hebrews were written today Paul would include her in its hallowed verses. Anna Lee did not drive till later in life and that is another story all together. So being unable to drive, she would always walk to church. Every time the church doors were open Anna Lee was on the road walking to church making sure that she did not miss one spiritual blessing that the Lord had in store for her. Now to get to the church she had to walk passed our house and our house included a couple of boys that did not attend church to faithfully. Every time she would pass by our house and see Craig and me out in the yard or in the driveway she would begin to yell and preach to us. Craig, Mark, God loves you and I love you. I want you to get saved. Come to Church. I am praying for you. Craig and I eventually learned when we could and when we could not be seen from the road. I did not appreciate her zeal for the Lord then but I sure do appreciate her example, her concern, and her prayers for this old boy now.
