As most of you know, I just lost my grandma to a nasty, year long - TopicsExpress

As most of you know, I just lost my grandma to a nasty, year long battle with oral cancer. Grandma practically raised me until I was 5. She was part of my daily life. She was a soft place for me to fall, a light in the storm, and a warm set of arms always wanting a hug. So when people tell me, This all happened for a reason. Its all part of Gods plan, I want to echo this very brave blog post: No. No, its not always part of the plan. I believe that God gave us agency, and we make decisions, and consequences come from those decisions. I dont believe that God planned for cancer to overtake my grandmas face, to prevent her from eating for 2 months, to riddle her last days with pain. What I do believe is that life is really hard sometimes, and instead of planning on giving my grandma cancer, I believe that God wrapped his arm around her and cried with her. Theres no consolation in saying, Its okay. Its all part of some plan. Because sometimes life just rots, and we lose people, and we experience pain. But its not always for a reason. Sure, we can glean lessons from it, but sometimes its just life. And sometimes, the only real consolation is to just have someone say, I know. It rots.
