As of recent, more than the usual, I have been thinking a lot about our world. The state of our world. If I think to much about it I can get overwhelmed. Most importantly, I think about our children. All our children, not the ones that are biologically connected, the children every where. And mostly about the children who have no one to save them. I watched this video last evening and I cried. I am so saddened, not surprised or shocked by these numbers and what is happening. Outside of Its a Good Life, I am Chief People Person & Institutional Advancement Officer for St. Aloysius Orphanage in Cincinnati, Ohio. A 178 year old institution that has saved hundreds of thousands of children over decades. I have seen first hand what is happening in our communities. I see generations continuing with no hope. Slowly the tide is turning. However, for the child who is sitting in the dark wondering who will save me - I feel them very deeply. Having been a volunteer in the community most of my life I have seen many children be saved. And I have seen many lost. What is the answer? That is a big question. Education, continuing to strive to end poverty - there are so many answers and so little time. But, what I know for sure is as always, it begins with each one of us doing our part, whatever that looks like to you. My grandmother used to say, we change one person at a time. We know this. However, we have a lot of work to do. This video is food for thought and I am just thinking out load. I am just sharing my thoughts. To Your Excellence...
