As promised, a wee snippet from the Coming (Very) Soon "In the Key Of": The violinist wore a charcoal-gray fedora with a snappy white band and had dark hair only barely restrained in a long braid that bounced against his slim back. Tight high-collared sweater, jeans, boots. Smooth, sun-browned, clever hands wielded his bow. Teague dug in his pocket. Did he…? Yes. Quarters. Only three of them. Not enough, though they’d have to do. He rapped on the window and whistled, startlingly loud in the copy room. The violinist skipped a couple notes, but he caught himself and veered back on track almost right away, walking backward and semicircular to see who wanted his attention. He still couldn’t get a proper look, but he figured the violinist had better luck, lifting his bow in a crisp salute to Teague. He flipped the fedora off and held it out in a cheerful dare. All right, then. Teague chuckled. He dropped his quarters out the window, careful not to wing them at the guy like little grenades. He’d have missed the hat either way, but at least this method didn’t lead to reckless endangerment. The violinist played three quick arpeggios and bent to scoop up the coins, nimble and quick. “Sorry it’s not more,” Teague called. The violinist waved his bow at Teague. He had a surprising sort of smile, a white flash that tickled, inviting a return.
