As the Earth continues to warm, - more and more frequently - animals move their territories in search of colder climates. Some species, particularly small mammals and amphibians, not may "go directly to the desired climate zones", but rather in their journey they will have to avoid roads and large areas of crops and other areas of human use, such as big cities. 5 Main "busiest" zones have been identified so far: the North of Canada, the northeastern United States in the Great Lakes region, including part of the South from Canada, the United States Southeast, Southeast of Brazil and the Amazon basin. The identification of the places that will have to migrate many species can be useful for environmental conservation and land-use planning.
