As the Sakumas continue to retaliate against the farm workers by denying their families housing, refusing to sign a legally binding contract, and now including clauses in their employment application denying the workers their legal right to protest abusive work environments, unionized Familias Unidas por la Justicia accompanied by WWU Students for Farm Worker Justice are amping up the action. Today we gathered at the Sehome Haggen, 10 farm workers and their families and 15 students, informing an enthusiastic public about the illegal labor practices enforced by the farm. It was especially heartening the number of people already informed and showing their support by not purchasing Sakuma Berries or supporting corporations, like Haagen Dazs, carrying their product.
