As the media continues to fan flames ignited by race hustlers during the recent show trial against George Zimmerman, some free-thinking Caucasians at Georgia State University refuse to feel inherent shame because of their skin color. Patrick Sharp said he founded the school’s as-yet unofficial White Student Union with the intention of fostering the same camaraderie found among GSU’s many other clubs, including others based entirely on race. He maintained that members look forward to working with on-campus organizations such as the Black Student Alliance, though he has unsurprisingly received several complaints already. Sharp laments the fact that being labeled a racist was not at all shocking. “Why is it when a white person says he is proud to be white, he’s shunned as a racist?” he asked. Some feel that whites already constitute the majority, arguing that smaller campus populations can make up for that disparity by forming community organizations. The student body makeup at GSU, however, is nearly identical for whites and blacks. “If we are minorities on campus and are soon to be minorities in this country,” he asked, “why wouldn’t we have the right to advocate for ourselves and have a club just like every other minority?” Sharp’s initiative was not altogether unique and was in fact inspired by a similar group at a university in Maryland. That union was targeted by the Southern Poverty Law Center, which castigated it as a hate group. Whenever leftists discover the gathering of similarly light-skinned individuals, they automatically envision the bigoted and dangerous white mobs of long ago. They do not, however, recall the far more recent racism of groups like the New Black Panthers or La Raza; nor do they concede that those justifiably reviled, white-hooded monsters of yesteryear were, almost to a man, Democrats. Sharp reaffirmed that his only intention is to “celebrate white identity” through “being in touch with who you are as a white person and being proud of that.” Race-obsessed hypocrites cannot accept that premise, though, and it’s not surprising. Sharp’s fellow students likely hear on a regular basis, and likely from some of the university’s professors, that whites are inherently evil and that minorities are perpetually oppressed. The incessant slander of whites combined with pandering to virtually all other cultural groups has fostered hostility and mistrust from all directions. Not only has it now progressed to the point that a group is made to feel like a villain for merely expressing a healthy level of pride; the distraction is dutifully drawing attention away from countless other injustices currently being perpetrated against us all.
