As we know, 50 years ago today was one of the most unfortunate days in American history. While I realize that many of JFK’s values were enacted into law during the LBJ administration, I think that the Civil Rights Act wouldn’t have been passed until well after 1964 without Kennedy being elected in 1960. Yes, I get that he wasn’t perfect, nobody is, but without him I doubt that we’d have an African American as president today. So, on this day of mourning for the 35th president, let’s be sure to give the current president some support too, whether or not you agree with his policies.
