As we remember today! Tommy died in 1977 This is my memory of a highly decorated soldier My dad was doctoring at the Deer lodge hospital in Winnipeg I took him to his appointments , on one of these occasions while we were taking an elevator to another floor in DLH -- there was a native gentleman waiting in the hall. For whatever reason my Dad (Ed Simon spoke to everyone) took up a conversation with Tommy-- they introduced themselves to each other, exchanged pleasantries - the elevator came and we left. I had no idea at the time that I was in the presence of Canadas most decorated FIRST NATIONS SOLDIER-- today I remember him !!! And my Dad who never fought in the war but was a soldier , he never got over the fact that as he jumped from the plane for the last time before deployment an injury ( probably saved his life) stopped him from going to battle-- where many of his friends never returned:( SO TODAY WE REMEMBER THEM ALL-- THANK-YOU
