Asian Carp out of control in Wabash River If you feel inclined to write your elected officials, please... do so... Letting some of my Hoosier friends and family [and those of you who may still have friends/family in IND] know about this (if you dont already). Thats Terre Haute, IN and the Wabash River, the most well-known natural feature of my home state. Its the watershed for most of Indiana as well as a good section of Illinois. Its amazing in an appalling way - think introduced species in Australia - see below for a map of the Wabash watershed. The Wabash and its tributaries are part of a well-known state song, history, culture, recreation, for a lot of people work and daily life. I mean, if youve ever been to the Indy 500 or watched it on TV, youve heard about the Wabash. The race opens with playing the Star Spangled Banner and singing Back Home Again in Indiana. And if you grew up in Indiana, you know the words. Theyre part of required Indiana History in 8th grade and in another primary grade.
