Asiaone--Scoots system glitch leaves hundreds stranded at Changi Airport Jermyn Chow The Straits Times Sunday, Oct 12, 2014 SINGAPORE - Hundreds of passengers were stranded for at least two hours at Changi Airport, after a glitch knocked out budget airline Scoots electronic check-in system for six hours on Friday night. Scoot explained on their Facebook page that some hardware issues at their data centre had caused the booking system to go down on Oct 10. According to The Straits Times, five outbound flights to Hong Kong, Sydney, Tianjin, Taipei and Perth were affected. Passengers returning from those cities were also stranded at the airports. Passengers took to social media to share their experience, saying they had waited five to eight hours at the Scoot check-in counters at Terminal 2. Many also expressed their displeasure on Scoots Facebook page that there was a lack of communication, and refreshments or meal coupons given out during the wait. On a positive note, some passengers also praised the Scoot staff for trying to calm the crowd and manually registering the passengers onto the flights. Here is the message posted on Scoots Facebook page on Oct 10: Dear Scoot Community, Our booking system provider is currently facing some hardware issues at their data centre, hence the booking system is down. We will update you again once the booking system is up and running again. We apologise for the inconvenience caused. Update: the booking system is back up. news.asiaone/news/travel/scoots-system-glitch-leaves-hundreds-stranded-changi-airport
